1 cup black chana soaked overnight for 8-12 hours
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
2 tbsps of fresh grated coconut
1 tsp Chaat masala
Lime juice
Cilantro, garnish
Soak the chana (I have used the black type) for 8- 12 hours.
Pressure cook the chana for 2-3 whistles.
Let the cooker cool down before draining the water.
Set aside the drained chana in a mesh strainer for 15-30 min

Combine chana with onion, tomato, chaat masala and grated coconut.
Toss the ingredients with lime juice and garnish with coriander.
This goes to 'Spill the beans' hosted by Priya of Akshayapaatram.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI simply LOVE the chaat they sell at Tank Bund. Looking at your chaat brings back lots of memories :-) My favorite hangout place was near the statues where the best vendors are :-) I made a sketch of a chaat vendor in my blog a while back :-D (its also my profile pic) http://sriannapurna.blogspot.com/2009/04/bhel-drink-anyone.html
ReplyDeleteSrilakshmi,
ReplyDeleteYes, that is one heck of a place!More than Eat street, the Tankbund chaat tastes better, prbly bcuz I have eaten all the junk food out there growing up..Eat street came only after I moved to US.So I cant associate more than a couple of instances.
I did see the sketch which was very good but I didn't realize it is a street vendor's..Now that you mentioned,it reminds me of this Dahi Papdi guy who use to roam around near our apt selling chaat!!Lovely memories!

ReplyDeleteSoma,
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you on Splendid Suns.I liked Kite runner and wanted to check out his other works and at the time Splendid Suns was released but I should say, it was a bit scary.
Lovely channa. I have had the street food from the vendors at Tankbund. Now all that yummy food seems not too healthy.
